All employees have passed through our ongoing Gold Standard Background Screening Process and are certified in abuse prevention training. In addition, all ASA employees pass pre-employment drug testing along with being subject to random drug screening at any time. ASA is also aligned with Safe Sport and promotes and trains all employees on current Safe Sport practices. All instructors undergo a minimum of 40 hours of in-water training. Instructors are also trained in First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding. ASA provides continuous staff training for all staff year round to maintain our high standards for teaching and safety in our programs.
Our instructors are all trained in what we like to call "The ASA Way." We have our own curriculum that each instructor follows through the levels, so no matter who you get as your coach, you will surely have a top notch lesson. Each instructor has their own personality, so bonding with a certain coach is normal and we will strive to find the best fit for your child.
The monthly payment is always charged to the card on file on the 20th of each month (NON-REFUNDABLE). A card must be provided to keep on file. Group lessons, private lessons, and SwimFIT are charged by the month, based on the number of lessons in the month. The monthly fee could be prorated depending on when the enrollment starts, or if there is a planned holiday closure. The monthly payment ensures that the spot is held for the swimmer and is non-refundable.
There is a $40 annual registration fee, per student, for the first two family members. Your registration fee is paid at the time of registration. Your annual registration fee will be charged next year with the month's auto-billed tuition. Registration fees are waived for 3rd+ family members.
No, you choose your day/time from our schedule of classes. That day and time is for your swimmer until you decide to take a break, you move to another day/time or your student graduates to another level.
Missed classes can only be made up if advance notice of at least 2 hours is given before the missed class. Makeups are limited to 2 per month and expire after 60 days from the miss. To schedule a makeup, log into your Parent Portal and use your Makeup Tokens to schedule a makeup; you can also call our customer service department at 770-973-3120 to schedule a makeup.
You can request to change your class schedule by logging into the Parent Portal and requesting to transfer your child's enrollment. You can also call our customer service department at 770-973-3120 to transfer the enrollment.
Each week the instructor updates the swimmer's skills, which you can access through the online parent portal. Once the swimmer has accomplished all the required skills, they will be graduated to the next level. You can request a progress report from the supervisor at any time. Progress reports can be completed at the next class as long as there is at least 24 hours notice.
If a student has zero stars for certain skills, this means the student has not yet attempted the skills.
If a student has 1 star we have introduced a skill to a student. We are working on them recognizing the skill and teaching them how to execute it.
If a student has 2 stars the student recognizes the skill and understands what they need to do. This star is when the student is actually learning and practicing the skill.
If a student has 3 starts the student performs the skill safely and properly executes it every time asked by the instructor; essentially, mastery of the skill.
Right when you walk in the door, head over to the check in kiosks. There you will either use the QR code on your Parent Portal app, or you can enter the phone number associated with the account. The kiosk will then tell you the class time, the pool number, the area and who your coach is. Always check in to make sure attendance is accurate!
All children under the age of 3, or children that are not potty-trained, must wear a fitted, cloth reusable swim diaper while swimming. We offer reusable diapers in our store for purchase if needed. We strictly enforce that all Baby Splash, Shrimps, and Guppies must be wearing a cloth reusable swim diaper. Accidents happen, even if your child is fully potty-trained. This is an industry standard and ASA is committed to maintaining the health and safety of all students, parents, and instructors in the water.
We provide all non-personal equipment required for the class for all students during their lesson. Swimmers in Guppies, Barnacles, Seahorses, Angelfish, Otters, Sea Turtles, or Flounders- goggles are recommended. Swimmers in Triggerfish, Sea Lions, Manta Rays, Dolphins, Reef Sharks and SwimFIT will need their own swim training fins and goggles. Stop by our retail shop and get fitted for fins and goggles.
We are committed to offering a swim experience to students with special needs. We are not therapists, nor are we specially trained to work with children with special needs. Our swim program has an inclusive philosophy, where children with special needs participate in our regular program to the best of their ability. Considerations are made for each child based on development and skill achievement. There are times when a private one - on - one class is better suited for the swimmer. At such times, we will work with you to find a day and time with availability for your lesson.
We rarely close due to inclement weather. We may pull swimmers out of the water when lightning is very near, but usually we have everyone stay in the swim hallway until it is deemed safe to resume classes. If we do cancel classes, we will have an automated message on our phone system to notify callers of class cancellations, an e-mail will go out to the e-mail on file, and we will post about it on Facebook. Please call and check before you drive if you are unsure. We will offer makeups for any closure due to inclement weather.
Please visit our home page for current store hours.
Withdrawals can only be submitted via phone call, text, e-mail, in-person, or online via our withdrawal form. Notification of the withdrawal is due by the 18th of the month. This allows us to put an end date on the class and opens the class for other students.
