Make A Plan

Step 1: Put together a plan by discussing these questions with your family, friends, or household to start your emergency plan.

-How will I receive emergency alerts and warnings?
-What is my shelter plan?
-What is my evacuation route?
-What is my family/household communication plan?

Step 2: Consider specific needs in your household. As you prepare your plan, tailor your plans and supplies to your specific daily living needs and responsibilities.

Keep in mind some these factors when developing your plan:

-Dietary needs and medications
-Pets or service animals
-Essential needs for each family member

Step 3: Create a Family Emergency Plan that includes:

-Out of town contact for loved ones to check in for updated information. A copy of your emergency plan should be kept with this person as well.
-Primary and secondary meeting place in case you are separated, loved ones can look for you there
-Updated insurance information, both Medical and Homeowners/Renters.

Step 4: Practice your plan with your family/household before you need it! Think of this as a family fire drill.

Who should you call? What do you need to share? Where are you now and where are you going? When will you check in again? How will you you get what you need?

-Discuss the plan.
-Share the plan.

-Use the plan.
